Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Accounting

About the role

The University of Queensland Business School is seeking a Lecturer (Level B) or Senior Lecturer (Level C) to join its Accounting Discipline. This full‑time, permanent position is based at the St Lucia campus and combines teaching, research, supervision and service responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver undergraduate, honours and postgraduate accounting courses, including curriculum design and assessment.
• Coordinate course delivery, provide academic counselling and ensure compliance with university teaching standards.
• Establish and lead a research programme, secure external funding, publish in high‑quality journals and collaborate on projects.
• Supervise Honours and Higher Degree by Research students, acting as principal supervisor for senior candidates.
• Contribute to departmental service through committee work, partnership development and mentorship of junior staff.

Required profile

• PhD (or equivalent) in Accounting or a closely related field, completed or near completion by start date.
• Demonstrated teaching excellence at undergraduate or postgraduate level.
• Evidence of research potential with a pipeline of working papers or peer‑reviewed publications.
• Ability to obtain and manage external research funding.
• Experience in student supervision and participation in academic or professional communities.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of accounting theory and practice.
• Proficiency in academic research methodologies.
• Effective communication and curriculum development skills.
