Lecturer in Economics (Education Focused)

About the role

The University of Sydney School of Economics seeks a full‑time, 12‑month fixed‑term Lecturer with an education focus. The role is split 70% teaching, 20% research and 10% governance, allowing you to shape curricula and mentor the next generation of economists.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in economics and related subjects using evidence‑based methods.
• Design, develop, review and continuously improve economics curriculum, learning materials and assessments.
• Provide academic guidance, mentoring and pastoral support to foster an inclusive learning environment.
• Coordinate and manage units of study, including assessment design, moderation, marking and feedback.
• Support students in developing analytical, quantitative, critical‑thinking and problem‑solving skills relevant to economics and public policy.

Required profile

• PhD in Economics or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching and learning in higher education.
• Experience designing, implementing and evaluating curriculum and innovative teaching practices.
• Proven ability to coordinate units of study and contribute to quality‑assurance initiatives.
• Commitment to creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment.
