Lead Tax Analyst

About the role

Transport for NSW is looking for a Lead Tax Analyst in Macquarie Park, NSW, within its research and analysis area. The role is a steward of a portfolio of work that uses finance and accounting skills to help build a sustainable transport network. It sits within a team delivering taxation advisory services and compliance oversight, ensuring the accuracy, integrity and timeliness of taxation reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare taxation returns and provide strategic advice in an agile environment
• Coordinate audits and drive process improvements using financial systems, data and analytics to support organisation-wide tax obligations and decision-making
• Pioneer efficiencies, enhance compliance and build robust tax policies
• Manage and advise stakeholders across a complex, multi-agency environment where legislative and regulatory requirements change constantly

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience across a broad range of taxes including income tax, GST, FBT, payroll tax and stamp duty, gained in a professional services practice and/or in-house tax function of a large enterprise
• Bachelor degree in Accounting, Business, Legal, Economics or Commerce from an Australian university, or equivalent overseas qualification
• Full membership of a recognised professional accounting or taxation body
• Recognised as a trusted tax advisor, able to lead compliance and advisory projects, engage stakeholders and influence decisions
