Lead Software Engineer

About the role

Lead the design, delivery and evolution of software solutions for a mission‑critical Defence program, working closely with product owners, engineers, architects and customer stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across the software engineering lifecycle, guiding solution design, development, integration, testing and deployment.
• Lead and mentor cross‑functional Agile teams, fostering engineering excellence and continuous improvement.
• Drive architectural decisions, technical roadmaps and modern engineering practices to ensure scalable, secure, maintainable solutions.
• Partner with customers and stakeholders to translate complex requirements into practical solutions and manage technical risks.

Required profile

• Extensive experience leading software engineering teams in Agile environments.
• Strong background in software architecture, systems integration and enterprise‑level application development.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to plan, estimate, manage risk and deliver outcomes in complex programs.

• Java and open‑source frameworks.
• REST APIs, JSON, XML integrations.
• NiFi, Kafka, Elastic (ELK) Stack, Solr.
• Git, Jenkins, Ansible.
• Linux and Windows platforms.
• Modern DevSecOps, CI/CD and Agile engineering practices.
