Security Engineer – Region Services

About the role

Join AWS Region Services in Melbourne to lead security onboarding and assurance for Australia’s sovereign cloud infrastructure. You will bridge global AWS innovation with national security requirements, shaping the architecture that will protect the nation for the next decade.

Key responsibilities

• Lead security onboarding and assurance for region‑specific cloud services, designing scalable mechanisms for operational readiness.
• Engineer and automate security‑control validation, evidence collection, policy testing and reporting across AWS environments.
• Review technical designs, code, configurations and structured data schemas (JSON, XML, XSD, XSLT, XPath) and provide actionable guidance.
• Develop reusable security tooling, metrics, dashboards and alarms to measure control effectiveness.
• Investigate security events, determine root causes and implement durable, automated remediation.

Required profile

• Australian citizenship with eligibility for an Australian Government Security Clearance.
• Analytical problem‑solver with ownership of complex technical and security challenges.
• Experience with security risk assessment (SRA) and enterprise gateways or data‑transfer solutions.
