Lead Data Manager / Metadata Lead

About the role

Billigence, a Sydney-based provider of Business Intelligence and CRM solutions, is looking for an experienced Lead Data Manager / Metadata Lead to drive the uplift of metadata practices across high-value data assets supporting analytics, automation and AI initiatives. The role leads metadata governance, oversees a team of metadata specialists and ensures data assets are documented, governed and managed to industry standards. Candidates must be Australian citizens willing to obtain baseline clearance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead delivery of enterprise metadata and data governance initiatives.
• Implement and maintain metadata standards, including ISO/IEC 11179.
• Develop metadata catalogues, business glossaries and data dictionaries.
• Identify and prioritise high-value data assets for governance and AI readiness.
• Drive metadata quality, consistency and standardisation across systems.
• Engage stakeholders with business SMEs, data stewards, analysts and technical teams.
• Manage and mentor metadata registrars and developers.
• Monitor project delivery, risks, milestones and reporting.
• Support data governance, data quality and information management practices.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in metadata management, data governance or data management leadership roles.
• Demonstrated experience implementing ISO/IEC 11179 Metadata Registry Standards.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and complex data initiatives.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Australian citizenship, willing to obtain baseline clearance.

Required skills

• Data governance, metadata management, data quality, master data management and information management frameworks.
• Creating and managing business glossaries, data catalogues, data dictionaries and metadata registries.
• Strategic thinking with delivery oversight.
• Highly desirable: experience with Microsoft Purview, Collibra, Informatica or Alation.
