Lawyer/Associate – Public Law, Complex Liabilities & Regulation

About the role

MinterEllison is seeking a motivated Lawyer or Associate to join its leading Public Law team in Sydney. You will work on high‑volume, complex litigation matters for Commonwealth clients, gaining early advocacy exposure across federal courts and tribunals.

Key responsibilities

• Manage merits review matters before the Administrative Review Tribunal.
• Conduct judicial review proceedings in the Federal Circuit and Family Court, Federal Court and High Court.
• Appear in interlocutory hearings, final hearings and appeals.
• Provide solicitor advocacy and brief counsel on complex public law issues.

Required profile

• 1–4 years post‑qualification experience, preferably in public or administrative law.
• Strong commercial mindset with interest in government litigation.
• Experience with Commonwealth agencies is highly regarded.

Required skills

• Technical legal drafting and clear written communication.
• Advocacy experience or a genuine interest in developing advocacy skills.
