Junior Estimator / Pre Construction Assistant

About the role

FORGE, an award-winning design-driven engineering company creating outdoor structures across Australia, is hiring a Pre Construction Assistant / Junior Estimator. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Norwest, NSW, supporting pre-construction activities such as quantity take-offs, cost estimates and tender and proposal documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare estimates and tender submissions, including quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications
• Request and compare quotes from suppliers and subcontractors
• Build bills of quantities, pricing schedules and Product Detail Sheets
• Keep project documentation, registers and programs up to date
• Take minutes in project meetings and help prepare weekly client reports
• Raise purchase orders and set up subcontracts in line with company procedures
• Support monthly progress claims and keep forecast data current
• Review completed project costs against estimates to improve future pricing

Required profile

• A qualification (or current study) in construction management, building, engineering, quantity surveying or similar, or relevant industry experience
• Ability to read construction drawings, or a genuine eagerness to learn
• Experience in estimating
• Clear, confident written and verbal communication
• Strong organisation skills and ability to juggle multiple projects

Required skills

• Good working knowledge of Excel
• Sharp attention to detail and a head for numbers
