Junior DevOps Engineer

About the role

This contract position supports a Federal Government client by providing junior‑level DevOps expertise. The role focuses on building, integrating, and testing software components in a secure, onsite environment across several Australian capitals.

Key responsibilities

• Produce software builds from source code following documented procedures.
• Execute integration tests, record outcomes, and re‑run tests after fixes.
• Perform basic log analysis to identify obvious errors.
• Report issues and risks, escalating when guidance is insufficient.
• Assist with routine environment and configuration checks.
• Support automation and continuous integration initiatives to improve build reliability.

Required profile

• Baseline Security Clearance or higher.
• Ability to work 40 hours per week onsite at an ATO office.
• Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving mindset.
• Willingness to learn and follow established build and test processes.

Required skills

• Understanding of software build processes.
• Familiarity with integration testing concepts.
• Basic knowledge of automation and continuous integration principles.

What we offer

• Fixed‑term contract for up to three years (12 months initial period with two extensions).
• Onsite work in Canberra, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide or Melbourne.
• Rate of 89 AUD per hour (in superannuation or plus GST).
