Front-End Software Engineer

About the role

carsales is hiring a Front-End Software Engineer for its Retail team, which builds the services and experiences behind buying and selling on one of Australia's largest automotive marketplaces. This is a product engineering role with a front-end focus, working mostly on features built in React or Angular with TypeScript and Node.js, and regularly collaborating with .NET services.

Key responsibilities

• Build product features end to end, from React or Angular interfaces in TypeScript to the Node.js services behind them
• Work with .NET APIs and services, taking on more of the back end as you grow
• Take work from a ticket to production, planning the approach before coding
• Write tests as you build and help keep the code easy to change
• Participate in software engineering practice: breaking down work, code review, testing, source control and build processes
• Work with product and design to understand the customer problem behind the work
• Share knowledge and give and receive constructive feedback to build team culture

Required profile

• 3+ years of commercial experience building product features in React or Angular with TypeScript
• Hands-on experience building and consuming APIs with Node.js
• Experience with back-end services in C#/.NET or Java, and the appetite to work in .NET services
• A clear problem-solving approach and good testing habits
• Nice to have: e-commerce or online marketplace experience, and deploying services on AWS Cloud Infrastructure (AWSCI/CD) with infrastructure as code
