Senior Full Stack .NET Developer
carsales · Melbourne
Job description
About the role
Carsales, an online vehicle marketplace, is hiring a senior full stack engineer for its Retail team. The team builds the services and experiences behind buying and selling on one of Australia's largest automotive marketplaces, starting from the customer problem and owning the solution from the interface through to .NET services and AWS infrastructure. The role suits someone comfortable in C#/.NET as well as React and TypeScript, who wants a real say in what is built.
Key responsibilities
- Design, build and run features across the stack, from React and TypeScript interfaces to C#/.NET services on AWS
- Own shipped code in production, including reliability, observability, performance and incident response
- Work with product and design to understand customer problems and shape solutions, pushing back with evidence on trade-offs
- Drive projects from idea to delivery with minimal direction, making and documenting design decisions
- Mentor junior engineers through pairing, code review and feedback
- Take part in software engineering practices: breaking down work, code review, testing, source control and build processes
- Share knowledge and give and receive constructive feedback to strengthen team culture
Required profile
- Senior full stack experience with real depth in C#/.NET services and React with TypeScript
- Experience designing, deploying and supporting production services on AWS, with system design judgement
- A product engineering mindset: starting from the customer problem and shaping products, not just delivering tickets
- Self-sufficient, drives own work and enjoys helping less experienced engineers grow
- Quality-first approach, including automated testing and CI/CD
- Inclusive and interpersonal; able to complete a National Police Record check and hold full-time Australian working rights
Required skills
- C#/.NET and React with TypeScript
- Nice to have: Node.js in production, event-driven systems with queues and messaging (SQS, SNS, RabbitMQ)
- Nice to have: Next.js or another modern React framework, experience on high-traffic consumer or e-commerce platforms
What we offer
- Hybrid working with flexible policies and leave options
- 24 weeks paid parental leave for primary caregivers, four weeks for secondary caregivers, six weeks gender transition leave
- Recognition as one of Australia's Best Workplaces, a family-friendly workplace and a WORK180-endorsed employer
- Flexible working arrangements, including part-time options
