Junior Design Engineer

About the role

Momentum Design Consultants is seeking a Junior Design Engineer to join its on‑site team in Pooraka, South Australia. The role offers hands‑on experience supporting senior engineers and drafters on architectural and building projects, using industry‑standard CAD tools.

Key responsibilities

• Produce and update 2D and 3D design drawings and models under guidance.
• Assist with mechanical and electrical layout development for building projects.
• Incorporate client mark‑ups, feedback and revisions into documentation.
• Maintain design files and ensure compliance with Australian NCC/BCA standards.
• Participate in design reviews and resolve technical queries with internal teams.
• Support continuous improvement of drafting and documentation processes.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Design Engineering or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Foundational knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and basic electrical engineering concepts.
• Familiarity with Australian building codes (NCC/BCA) is an advantage.
• Strong attention to detail, organisational skills and ability to work under guidance in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD software for creating and managing 2D/3D models.
• Understanding of mechanical component design and system layout.
• Basic knowledge of electrical system integration in building design.
• Awareness of Australian NCC/BCA standards.
