IT Security Officer – Defence ICT Environment

About the role

Profectus is looking for an experienced IT Security Officer to provide security advice, guidance and support across a complex, accredited ICT environment within Defence. The role will monitor security posture, manage accreditation documentation and resolve security issues while liaising with Defence stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor the security posture of the environment and report on integrity, policy compliance and monitoring.
• Provide IT security advice to Defence personnel and IT Service Management functions.
• Locate, identify and resolve security failures as part of a Security Risk Management Plan.
• Maintain ICT security documentation and manage security risks.
• Support ITSM processes including change, problem, incident and asset management.
• Liaise with Defence parties to schedule and conduct audits and accreditation events.
• Apply ITIL Service Management principles under direction.
• Handle classified information in line with Commonwealth policies and the Defence Security Principles Framework.

Required profile

• 5+ years of IT security experience, preferably with military or Defence exposure.
• Relevant security certifications (e.g., SSCP, Security+, SANS) or a degree in a related discipline.
• 2+ years maintaining ICT system accreditation documentation in an Australian Government context.
• Unrestricted ability to deploy to ADF installations and work out‑of‑hours or shift patterns.
• Strong communication skills with technical peers and frontline IT leadership.

• CrowdStrike Falcon or similar security monitoring platforms.
