Investment Analyst - Equities (External Mandates)

About the role

Victorian Funds Management Corporation (VFMC), a public authority that invests on behalf of the State of Victoria, is looking for a highly motivated Analyst for its Equities team. The role reports to the Portfolio Manager and supports the team in helping achieve performance targets for externally managed equity portfolios, in line with VFMC's investment strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor financial markets and help assess risk and return expectations across equity markets.
• Identify pertinent investment issues and communicate them clearly within the team.
• Assist in analysing portfolio structures and residual risk exposures, including preparing portfolio exposure reports.
• Carry out due diligence on existing and potential investment opportunities in physical and derivative markets.
• Contribute to investment views and help implement them across equity portfolios.
• Work with the Client Services team on client reporting as needed.

Required profile

• Undergraduate degree, ideally in Finance or Commerce, with a high level of academic achievement.
• CFA qualified, or working towards it, considered favourably.
• Experience in financial services such as funds management, investment banking/broking or superannuation.
• Strong interest in investment markets and outstanding attention to detail.
• A proven record of achievement in previous roles is highly regarded.
• Commitment to working in a 'for purpose' organisation is essential.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel skills (VBA).
• Competence with other MS Office products.
• Some data visualisation AI capability.
