Intermediate Accountant

About the role

Our client is looking for an intermediate accountant to join a growing team. You will work alongside experienced accountants, gaining exposure to taxation, compliance, business services and SMSF work while building a solid foundation for a long‑term career.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare financial statements and working papers.
• Prepare individual, company and trust tax returns.
• Prepare and lodge BAS.
• Conduct general ledger reviews and reconciliations.
• Assist with annual compliance obligations and company/trust administration.
• Prepare budgets and forecasts.
• Support SMSF accounts, tax returns and compliance requirements.
• Prepare audit work papers and year‑end SMSF processes.
• Process payroll and provide bookkeeping support for clients.
• Perform bank reconciliations and transaction processing.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships.

Required profile

• Accounting degree or equivalent qualification.
• Previous public practice accounting experience.
• Exposure to tax compliance and business services accounting.
• Understanding of Australian taxation principles and BAS requirements.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.

Required skills

• Experience with accounting software such as Xero.
• Experience with accounting software such as MYOB.
