HVAC Technician - Defence Contract

About the role

Service Stream, a new Australian Department of Defence partner, is hiring an HVAC Technician for its Defence division at Larrakeyah Defence Precinct, Northern Territory. The role provides operational maintenance, repairs and services to air conditioning, controlled temperature and refrigeration systems across Defence buildings and infrastructure. It is a permanent full-time position on a minimum 6-year contract, within a company that has serviced critical infrastructure for over 20 years.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out regular preventative maintenance of HVAC systems, including air conditioning units, refrigeration systems and controlled temperature environments.
• Diagnose and repair faults in HVAC systems to maintain performance and prevent failures.
• Install new HVAC systems and components in line with safety and regulatory standards.
• Monitor and adjust system controls to ensure efficient operation and the right temperature settings.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work, including parts used.
• Respond promptly to emergency repair requests to minimise downtime.
• Work with other maintenance and engineering teams on complex issues and follow all safety protocols.

Required profile

• A current Australian Refrigeration Mechanic trade qualification.
• Demonstrated experience with chilled water systems, chillers, air handling units and BMS control systems.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools and equipment.
• ArcTick Refrigerant Handling Licence and Restricted or Open Electrical Licence.
• Valid driver's licence.
• Australian citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance.
