Electrical Maintenance Officer

About the role

BlueScope's Port Kembla Welded Products team is looking for an Electrical Maintenance Officer. The Welded Products unit makes large welded beams and columns from XLERPLATE steel for infrastructure such as bridges, high-rise buildings, stadiums and mining projects. The role is a key position for electrical equipment specialists, covering automated welding machines, drives, sensors, cranes and some PLC-controlled equipment, with fault-finding, maintenance planning and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical knowledge and use a root cause analysis approach to equipment problems, maintaining asset performance
• Manage plant performance day to day and plan, organise and oversee the safe execution of maintenance activities
• Inspect and understand the condition of all plant and equipment, and suggest improvements to maintenance strategies
• Support improvements in plant capability, upgrades and product quality systems across the welded products department
• Work closely with the mechanical team and provide coordination support when required

Required profile

• Electrical trade qualifications, or electrical engineering qualifications with practical experience
• An Electrical licence
• Technical experience on manufacturing or heavy industrial equipment within a maintenance function
• Problem-solving and reliability improvement experience
• Commitment to the safety and wellbeing of yourself and others
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
