Human Resources Generalist

About the role

The Human Resources Generalist will act as an autonomous HR partner within Amentum’s Corporate HR Department, supporting the Facilities Operations & Maintenance program at the Joint Defence Facility Pine Gap. Working in a dual‑jurisdiction environment (Australia and the United States), the role provides high‑level employee relations, policy application, and program administration.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver front‑line employee and industrial relations advice, coach supervisors on policy interpretation, performance plans and grievance handling.
• Manage end‑to‑end HR workflows including mobilisation/demobilisation, onboarding, and contract variations using Workday and corporate databases.
• Conduct dual‑jurisdiction compensation audits for US expatriates/TDY staff and Australian superannuation, correcting data variances.
• Own data integrity for AU and US HRIS/payroll fields, ensuring compliance with company policy, statutory law and defence audit requirements.
• Develop and update local HR SOPs, onboarding packages and workplace policies to align with regional legislation.

Required profile

• 2–4+ years of professional HR administration or generalist experience.
• Certificate IV in Human Resources (or related) – bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
• Current Australian open driver’s licence.
• Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian NV1 or US Secret security clearance.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with Workday or equivalent enterprise HRIS.
• Proficiency in SharePoint and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong written and verbal communication with ability to handle confidential information.
