HR Manager – Interim Role for Australian Retail Group

About the role

Our client, a well‑established Australian retail organisation, is seeking an experienced HR Manager to lead the people function across a national workforce. Reporting directly to the CEO, this hands‑on role will support both operational and strategic HR needs during a period of growth and organisational change.

Key responsibilities

• Manage employee relations, including investigations, performance management, disciplinary processes and conflict resolution.
• Oversee performance management frameworks, talent development and succession planning.
• Maintain and continuously improve HR policies, procedures and systems.
• Support payroll processes through pre‑payroll review activities, ensuring accurate leave payments and employment‑related changes.
• Coach, mentor and develop the Talent Acquisition & HR Advisor to build HR capability.

Required profile

• Previous hands‑on experience in a senior HR Manager or standalone HR role (essential).
• Background in retail or a similarly fast‑paced industry (essential).
• Experience with pre‑payroll processes (highly desirable).
• Familiarity with Employment Hero HR platform (highly desirable).
• Immediate availability to start.
