HR Manager - Generalist, 12-Month Contract

About the role

An international professional services organisation is seeking an experienced HR Manager for its Australian business on a 12-month fixed-term contract. The role supports a workforce of around 300 employees across Australia and acts as the primary HR contact for local leaders and employees, working closely with a well-established global HR function based overseas. It reports to an overseas Senior HR Business Partner and is supported by global specialist centres of excellence covering employee relations, payroll, reward, learning and development and HR services.

Key responsibilities

• Provide trusted HR advice to leaders and employees
• Coach and support senior stakeholders and business leaders
• Manage employee relations matters with support from specialist HR teams
• Lead cyclical HR activities such as performance, talent and annual people processes
• Support organisational growth and workforce planning initiatives
• Drive employee engagement and people-focused initiatives
• Ensure compliance with Australian employment legislation and company policies
• Partner with global HR colleagues to implement people programs locally

Required profile

• Proven HR generalist experience at HR Manager or HRBP level
• Sound employee relations experience and knowledge of Australian employment legislation
• Experience partnering with senior leaders in a professional services, legal, consulting or corporate environment
• Relevant tertiary qualifications

• Hands-on, pragmatic approach with strong communication skills and commercial judgement
• Ability to balance operational delivery with business partnering
