HR Business Partner

About the role

Cement Australia is looking for an experienced HR Business Partner to join its People and Capability team as a trusted advisor, working mainly with the Operations division. You will report to the HR Manager – Business Partnering and work with senior leaders and their teams across sites nationwide, supporting salaried and enterprise agreement employees. The role is based at the corporate head office in Darra, with one day per week working from home.

Key responsibilities

• Give pragmatic, commercially focused HR advice and coaching so leaders can manage workforce risk, performance and capability
• Handle day-to-day employee relations matters, including grievances, disciplinary action, complex investigations and terminations, until they are resolved
• Act as a valued customer for leaders, keeping matters moving quickly
• Coach leaders and build people capability through targeted training and facilitation
• Lead organisation design and structure reviews, including role evaluations, scope and alignment and business cases
• Partner with HR Managers on strategic initiatives such as succession planning, change initiatives and HR projects, and contribute to HR governance and the HR calendar

Required profile

• Demonstrated generalist HR experience, including hands-on employee relations, investigations and complex case management
• Proven ability to partner with senior leaders and give commercially focused advice aligned to business priorities
• Responsive, customer-focused approach, able to move at pace and see matters through to resolution
• Willingness to travel to sites about five to six times per year
• Nice to have: a bachelor's degree in HR or a related discipline, experience in an operational industry such as manufacturing, mining or distribution, and current knowledge of HR best practice
