Housekeeper - Aged Care

About the role

Berengarra Aged Care, a 90-bed residential aged care facility in Kew, Melbourne, is looking for a casual housekeeper. The position supports residents with food preparation, cleaning and laundry tasks, working as part of a team to deliver best-practice, person-centred care. It is a casual position with the ability to work across the roster on the Aged Care and Mental Health Unit.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare short-order meals for residents and help coordinate and prepare their daily menu and beverage choices
• Wash residents' meal plates and kitchen trays, and keep the kitchen, pantry and kitchen equipment clean
• Help the cleaning team with resident rooms, bathrooms, living areas, dining areas and staff and public areas
• Sweep, vacuum, mop, scrub, dust, clean glass, make resident beds and clean the kitchen
• Follow infection control procedures
• Help the laundry team by moving trolleys to the laundry, washing, drying, pressing and folding residents' laundry and returning it to their rooms

Required profile

• Food Handling Certificate (essential)
• Cleaning and food and beverage handling experience, preferably in an aged care setting
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and strong communication skills
• Previous hospital or residential facility experience highly desirable
• Current NDIS check, or willingness to obtain one
