Heritage Architect

About the role

Join a leading Sydney heritage consultancy to deliver heritage advice, assessments and conservation outcomes on landmark projects. You will work within a collaborative team that balances preservation of Australia’s built heritage with contemporary development.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare Heritage Impact Statements, Heritage Assessment Reports and Conservation Management Plans.
• Conduct historical research, site investigations and archival analysis.
• Provide heritage advice to clients, architects, planners, government agencies and project teams.
• Manage project delivery, stakeholder coordination and client relationships.
• Contribute to Heritage NSW applications, peer reviews and due‑diligence assessments.
• Develop heritage interpretation strategies and conservation recommendations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to achieve balanced outcomes.
• Assist with tender submissions, fee proposals and business development initiatives.

Required profile

• Degree in Architecture, Heritage Conservation, Heritage Studies or related discipline.
• 2‑5+ years experience in a heritage consultancy, architectural practice or similar environment.
• Proven experience preparing heritage reports and management documentation in Australia.
• Strong understanding of NSW heritage legislation, planning controls and approval pathways.
• Excellent written communication and technical report writing skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently with strong attention to detail.

Required skills

• Knowledge of the National Construction Code (NCC).
• Familiarity with Australian Standards.
• Understanding of NSW heritage legislation and planning controls.
