Health & Safety Trainee – Rail Minor Works

About the role

Acciona Rail is seeking a Health & Safety Trainee to join its Minor Works team in Port Melbourne. The role supports the Rail Safety Manager and provides hands‑on experience across a range of rail infrastructure projects, including track upgrades, bridge works and station modernisation.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in reporting, incident investigation and the development of corrective or preventive actions for hazards, near‑misses and work‑related injuries.
• Support the safety and project teams in preparing safety information for client and stakeholder meetings.
• Help deliver safety training, awareness sessions and information briefings to site personnel.
• Prepare safety reports, Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and other communications.
• Conduct regular site safety inspections and audits of project and subcontractor activities.
• Work with superintendents, supervisors and site workers to eliminate or minimise hazards.
• Review on‑site work practices, material conditions, plant and equipment to identify OSHE hazards.
• Provide general administrative support, manage correspondence and arrange meetings as required.

Required profile

• Based in Port Melbourne and willing to travel regionally.
• Available for night‑shift work as required.
