Head of Workforce Optimisation
Young Guns · Brisbane
Job description
About the role
Young Guns, an Indigenous-owned workforce solutions partner operating across Australia, New Zealand and Canada, is creating a new senior role leading workforce planning and optimisation. The position reports to the CFO and is based in the Brisbane head office, with travel across Australia, New Zealand and Canada. The business built its own workforce platform, Playbook, covering demand forecasting, shift structures, allocation, time and attendance and reporting; the role takes it to the next level.
Key responsibilities
- Set the long-term direction for workforce planning and optimisation and turn it into a release roadmap.
- Lead the next phase of Playbook, starting with optimised rostering, shift swaps and values-based rostering.
- Work with the in-house IT development team, and later an external optimisation partner, to build and release tools on a three- to four-month cycle.
- Drive adoption with GMs, area managers and supervisors, including sitting with users to find out why a tool is not being used.
- Improve forecast accuracy, retention and roster fairness across a large casual workforce.
- Use user satisfaction, adoption data and employee feedback to shape each release.
- Grow the function as the business scales.
Required profile
- Head or Manager of Workforce Planning or Optimisation with three to five years at a senior level building or uplifting the function.
- Experience planning and managing a high-volume, blue-collar workforce with a large casual component.
- Experience building workforce tools, or buying and integrating them, and seeing them through to adoption.
- Able to set direction and still get into the detail.
- Understands how rosters drive retention, absenteeism and team stability, and wins over frontline leaders with tools that make their day easier.
- Background may be in aviation, transport and logistics, warehousing, manufacturing or hospitality and consumer services.
What we offer
- Salary of $180,000 to $200,000 per annum, plus superannuation and a bonus linked to company performance.
The vacancy is advertised by Six Degrees Executive, which is recruiting on behalf of Young Guns.
