Head of Transport

About the role

As Head of Transport at MECCA, you will lead the Freight & Logistics function, shaping and delivering an end‑to‑end transport strategy that supports the company’s growth and customer promise across Australia and New Zealand. You will be responsible for safe, efficient and cost‑effective movement of goods from global partners to stores and customers.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a multi‑year transport strategy aligned with MECCA’s growth objectives.
• Lead, inspire and continuously improve the Freight & Logistics team.
• Manage key freight, 3PL and carrier relationships to optimise service, cost and scalability.
• Drive operational excellence across inbound and outbound freight, improving delivery speed, reliability and visibility.
• Ensure compliance with safety, Chain of Responsibility and all transport legislation.

Required profile

• 5+ years of senior experience in transport, logistics or supply‑chain leadership.
• Strong commercial acumen with experience managing budgets, cost‑to‑serve and supplier contracts.
• Proven ability to manage international freight, customs processes and retail/e‑commerce logistics.
• Experience overseeing freight forwarders, carriers and 3PL providers.
• Safety‑focused mindset with knowledge of compliance and risk management in transport.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication and leadership capabilities.
