Head of Quality Assurance & Compliance – Education Sector

About the role

This senior leadership position is responsible for shaping and overseeing quality assurance, regulatory compliance, governance and continuous improvement across a well‑established higher and vocational education provider. Reporting to the COO, you will influence strategic direction and ensure the organisation meets all relevant regulatory obligations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain quality and compliance frameworks aligned with higher education and vocational education regulations.
• Lead internal and external audits, reviews and regulatory assessments, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
• Provide expert advice to executive leadership and governance committees on compliance, quality and risk matters.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives through benchmarking, quality reviews and best‑practice recommendations.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory changes and prepare the organisation for compliance.
• Build strong relationships with academic, operational and leadership teams to foster a culture of quality and accountability.

Required profile

• Extensive knowledge of Australian higher education and/or vocational education regulatory frameworks.
• Proven senior leadership experience managing quality assurance and compliance functions.
• Demonstrated ability to lead audits, reviews and continuous improvement programmes.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills across all organisational levels.
• Excellent analytical, reporting and communication capabilities.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications; postgraduate qualifications are highly regarded.
