Head of Product & Proposition - Merchant Acquiring

About the role

ANZ is looking for a Head of Product and Proposition to lead the design and ongoing management of merchant products and propositions serving customers from small business to Australia's largest institutions. The role leads a team supporting ANZ's Business and Institutional divisions, manages strategic partnerships with external providers, and shares accountability for the product's overall profit and loss. It is based in Sydney or Melbourne and is a permanent, full-time position.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the merchant product and proposition strategy, delivering competitive, customer-focused and commercially sustainable payment acceptance solutions.
• Own the end-to-end merchant product portfolio and roadmap, prioritising customer experience, digital capabilities, competitiveness and business performance.
• Use customer insights, market trends and industry knowledge to build propositions that drive acquisition, retention and growth.
• Set up product governance covering lifecycle, risk, regulatory, conduct and customer outcome requirements.
• Partner with schemes, fintechs, technology providers and processors to develop and commercialise merchant acquiring solutions.
• Lead a high-performing team, drive product delivery and continuous improvement, and report performance to stakeholders.

Required profile

• Deep experience in merchant acquiring, payments, transaction banking or financial services, across small business, commercial, corporate and institutional segments.
• Proven product leadership, including strategy, roadmap ownership, lifecycle management and commercialisation of new or enhanced products.
• Understanding of customer segments, industry verticals and merchant operating models.
• Experience establishing product governance frameworks, including approvals, lifecycle reviews, issue management and risk controls.
• Experience working with Market Management, Distribution, Operations, Technology, Risk, Legal, Compliance, Finance and Marketing.
• Strong ecosystem and partner management, and senior stakeholder leadership.
• People leadership experience, including building capability and operating models.
