Head of Media and Public Relations

About the role

Lead the external media, public relations and strategic communications for the Penrith Panthers Rugby League Club. Reporting to the General Manager Commercial, you will shape the club’s story, protect its reputation and drive engagement across the market and community.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver the annual public relations and digital media strategy, including media engagement, crisis communications and earned media.
• Prepare media statements, speeches, talking points and briefing materials for executives, board members, coaches and players, and provide media training as required.
• Manage departmental budgets, wages and expenses while supporting revenue, gross profit and EBITDA targets.
• Lead a Digital Content team of four Content Producers, handling recruitment, performance management and development.
• Ensure compliance with Group policies, NRL guidelines, WHS legislation and relevant statutory obligations.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of experience in public relations, media relations or communications, preferably in a high‑profile sporting environment.
• Proven leadership ability with experience managing direct reports.
• Strong judgement, resilience and composure to operate in fast‑paced, high‑pressure situations.
• Willingness to work on all Panthers NRL game days throughout the season and Finals Series.
