About the role
The Head of Government Affairs & Public Policy for Australia leads HP’s engagement with federal, state and territory governments, defence, regulators and industry bodies to advance business objectives and policy priorities across the public sector.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and execute integrated government affairs, policy advocacy and stakeholder engagement strategies aligned with global priorities.
- Monitor, analyse and influence legislative, regulatory and policy developments affecting technology, cybersecurity, AI, digital transformation, privacy, sustainability and public procurement.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with key government departments, agencies, ministers, parliamentarians and regulators.
- Represent HP in consultations, industry roundtables, advisory groups and public policy forums.
- Support public‑sector market access by aligning advocacy with procurement frameworks and collaborating with sales, legal and compliance teams.
- Provide senior leadership with actionable assessments of policy and procurement impacts and manage related risks.
Required profile
- 4‑year or graduate degree in Law, Public Policy, Business Administration or equivalent experience.
- 10‑12+ years of experience in government affairs, public policy, regulatory affairs or public‑sector procurement, preferably in technology or regulated industries.
- Demonstrated senior‑level engagement with Australian government officials and deep knowledge of Australia’s political, regulatory and procurement systems.
- Strong political acumen, judgment and ability to operate in a complex multinational environment.
