About the role

The Head of Government Affairs & Public Policy for Australia leads HP’s engagement with federal, state and territory governments, the Department of Defence, regulators and industry bodies to advance business objectives and public policy priorities across the public sector.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute integrated government affairs, policy advocacy and stakeholder engagement strategies aligned with global priorities.
• Monitor, analyse and influence legislative, regulatory and policy developments, advising senior leadership on business implications.
• Build and maintain trusted relationships with key government departments, agencies and regulators, and represent HP in consultations and industry forums.
• Support public‑sector market access by aligning advocacy with procurement frameworks and collaborating with sales, legal and compliance teams.
• Act as a trusted advisor to Australia leadership, translating policy developments into actionable business impact assessments.

Required profile

• 4‑year or graduate degree in Law, Public Policy, Business Administration or equivalent experience.
• 10–12+ years’ experience in government affairs, public policy, regulatory affairs or public‑sector procurement, preferably in technology or regulated industries.
• Demonstrated expertise in Australia’s political, regulatory and public procurement systems with senior‑level government engagement experience.
• Strong political acumen, judgment and ability to operate in a complex, matrixed multinational organisation.
