Head of Department – Curriculum (School Leadership)

About the role

Gladstone Central State School is looking for an experienced educator to lead the Curriculum Department. The Head of Department will drive instructional excellence, embed socially just practices, and support high‑performance teaching and learning across the school.

Key responsibilities

• Implement impactful curriculum and pedagogical practices to improve student achievement.
• Set and monitor high standards for student and staff performance.
• Lead lifelong learning and professional development initiatives.
• Build partnerships with students, parents, agencies, and community groups.
• Interpret and apply relevant legislation and policies.
• Manage human, financial, and facility resources to achieve departmental goals.
• Oversee staff scheduling, timetabling, and resource allocation.

Required profile

• Current Queensland teacher registration with eligibility for leadership roles.
• Proven success in instructional leadership and improving student outcomes.
• Strong knowledge of inclusive education, differentiation strategies, and the Science of Reading.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Capacity to lead change and foster a collaborative team culture.
