VET Teacher – Auto Heavy (Diesel Fitting)

About the role

CQUniversity is seeking an experienced diesel fitter or auto‑heavy professional to deliver hands‑on VET training to apprentices. You will bring real‑world industry knowledge into the classroom and workshop, helping students develop practical skills for the heavy‑vehicle sector.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver practical workshops and assessments covering maintenance, diagnostics, fault finding, repair, testing and commissioning of heavy vehicles and mobile plant.
• Provide student support, preparation, marking and documentation within a structured teaching workload (approximately 22 hrs teaching per week).

Required profile

• Relevant qualification in automotive heavy vehicle, mobile plant, diesel engine technology or diesel fitting engineering.
• Current hands‑on industry experience with heavy‑vehicle diesel engines, hydraulic systems and associated electrical/electronic controls.
• Willingness to mentor apprentices and work in a structured assessment environment; no prior teaching experience required.

• Permanent full‑time position with a starting salary of $107,697 per year (approximately $56.94 hr) plus 17 % superannuation.
