Group Project Accountant

About the role

A design-led practice in Australia with a global presence across Asia, the UK and the Middle East is looking for a Group Project Accountant. The role provides financial oversight and analysis of project performance and manages work in progress (WIP) and forecasting for multiple projects across Australia. It is a permanent position, open to candidates based in either Sydney or Melbourne, with flexible hybrid working.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and process client, contractor and supplier invoices in line with agreed project terms.
• Set up billing terms for new projects and manage WIP, fee forecasts and billing schedules.
• Monitor project financial health and identify underperforming projects to support corrective action.
• Contribute to regular financial reporting, forecasting and variance analysis, and support the annual group budget.
• Produce collection forecasts and support accounts receivable and timely cash collection.
• Maintain compliance with internal financial standards, processes and timesheet requirements.

Required profile

• Experience in project accounting, ideally in a professional services firm such as landscape architecture, design, engineering or construction.
• Experience in a group or multi-entity role managing multiple projects.
• An effective business partner able to build collaborative relationships with finance and non-finance stakeholders.
• Applicants must be Australian citizens, permanent residents or long-term visa holders.
