Group Accountant – CFO Direct – Northern Tasmania

About the role

This senior finance position reports directly to the CFO of a large privately‑owned heavy‑industry group in Northern Tasmania. The Group Accountant will own the end‑to‑end finance function across a portfolio of 6‑10 corporate and investment entities, providing critical insight to senior leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare accurate group financial statements and reports for multiple entities.
• Drive financial planning, forecasting and performance analysis to support strategic decisions.
• Strengthen internal controls, tax compliance and audit readiness as the business expands.
• Manage audit schedules, reconciliations and statutory filing requirements.
• Produce manual management reports and Excel‑based analyses.

Required profile

• CA or CPA qualification preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, including full‑cycle statutory reporting.
• Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and tax obligations.
• Experience with complex group structures or multiple entities.
• Hands‑on, inquisitive attitude with a willingness to own problems to resolution.
• Commitment to being based in Burnie or relocating to North‑West Tasmania.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MYOB.
• Experience using Acumatica.
• Familiarity with Acuri.
• Knowledge of Tax Automate.
• Advanced Excel skills.
