Graduate Tax Accountant

About the role

PKF Newcastle is seeking a motivated Graduate Tax Accountant to join its Tax team in February 2027. This permanent graduate opportunity offers hands‑on experience across tax compliance and advisory work while supporting a diverse client portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare income tax returns and assist with Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) returns.
• Prepare tax calculations, workpapers and support tax compliance tasks.
• Research taxation issues, ATO guidance and relevant legislation.
• Assist senior team members with tax advice, client correspondence and exposure to business restructures, transactions and international tax matters.

Required profile

• Completed or near‑completed degree in Commerce, Law or related discipline with a major in accounting or interest in Tax Law (graduating by December 2026).
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills with attention to detail.
• Curious, motivated and eager to learn with a genuine interest in a career in taxation.
• Willingness to ask questions, take feedback and work collaboratively in a team.
