Graduate Data Engineer – 2027 Program

About the role

Whitehaven is seeking a motivated Graduate Data Engineer to join its 2027 Graduate Program. This two‑year rotational program offers hands‑on experience across mining operations and corporate offices, developing technical and professional skills in a real mining environment.

Key responsibilities

• Support data quality, validation, governance and data management initiatives.
• Integrate and transform data from enterprise systems into cloud platforms using APIs and modern data pipelines.
• Build and maintain data assets, pipeline configurations and deployment artifacts using YAML and cloud‑native tools.
• Develop AI‑powered solutions, including Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines, for intelligent search and operational assistants.
• Create dashboards, reports and automated workflows using Power BI and analytics platforms.

Required profile

• A degree in Data Engineering, Computer Science, AI, Software Engineering or a related field.
• Genuine interest in the mining industry and willingness to live and work in regional or site‑based locations.
• Strong communication, teamwork and relationship‑building skills.
• Proactive attitude, commitment to safety, integrity and continuous improvement.
