Graduate Accountant

About the role

Bentleys Queensland, a full-service advisory and accounting firm with 14 partners and around 200 people across three offices, is hiring a Graduate Accountant to join its Business Services team from January 2027. You will work alongside experienced professionals delivering accounting, taxation and advisory services to a diverse client base, with ongoing training, mentorship and support.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare financial statements and income tax returns with support from senior team members.
• Assist with Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS).
• Support tax compliance and learn how to apply Australian tax legislation in practice.
• Assist with tax planning through data gathering and preliminary analysis.
• Support lodgement processes and liaise with the ATO.
• Prepare client correspondence and support client meetings.
• Manage assigned tasks to ensure timely and accurate completion.
• Take part in training, development programs and ongoing learning.

Required profile

• Recent accounting graduate or near completion of a degree.
• Eager to learn and committed to professional development, including starting or continuing CA or CPA studies.
• Full, unrestricted Australian working rights; sponsorship is not available.

Required skills

• Degree in Accounting or a related discipline.
• Foundational understanding of Australian tax legislation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Exposure to Xero, MYOB or QuickBooks is desirable.
• Strong attention to detail, communication skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
