Graduate Accountant

About the role

Join Athena’s Finance team as a Graduate Accountant and launch your career in accounting and finance. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will support day‑to‑day financial controls that underpin the company’s lending operations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with daily and month‑end reconciliations across cash, trust, ledger and loan‑book controls.
• Support cash‑flow analysis, loan account monitoring and investigation of reconciliation exceptions.
• Help prepare and quality‑review data for regulatory reporting obligations.
• Contribute to year‑end audit procedures and control reviews.
• Gain exposure to taxation, corporate finance and FP&A activities.
• Participate in process‑improvement initiatives, including creating new tools and procedures.

Required profile

• Recently completed an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Commerce, Accounting or a related field.
• Australian citizenship or permanent residency at the time of application.
• Intellectually curious, ambitious self‑starter with a growth mindset.

Required skills

• Understanding of basic accounting principles and financial controls.
• Ability to perform reconciliations and analytical tasks.
