GM Data & AI Engineering Delivery

About the role

The GM – Data and AI Engineering, Delivery leads the engineering capability that powers ANZ’s data and AI ambitions. Reporting to the Chief Data & AI Officer, the role translates strategy into reliable, production‑ready data products and engineering practices across the enterprise.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Data and AI engineering function, establishing modern practices such as Agile, DevOps and DataOps.
• Design, build and reuse secure, scalable data pipelines, transformations and high‑quality data products.
• Deliver production‑ready data outputs that support AI/ML model development and advanced analytics.
• Define and enforce engineering standards, frameworks, data quality, lineage and observability.
• Oversee end‑to‑end delivery of data and AI initiatives, managing prioritisation, backlog and execution across multiple teams.
• Partner with architecture, governance, AI portfolio and business stakeholders to ensure data is accessible, trustworthy and compliant.
• Drive automation, efficiency improvements and a culture of continuous learning.

Required profile

• Deep expertise in data engineering, large‑scale data processing and AI/ML data enablement.
• Proven experience building and scaling reusable data products and engineering assets.
• Strong understanding of modern data architectures (data lakes, warehouses, streaming, data mesh, lakehouse, data fabric).
• Leadership experience managing large engineering and delivery teams in a financial services environment.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
