Principal Software Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer to own system design across a deep‑tech autonomy platform. You will work hands‑on in code while guiding technical decisions across perception, platform, product and operations teams.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end system design across multiple software teams, defining interfaces, data contracts and measurable requirements for latency, safety, security and resilience.
• Write and review code that spans teams, lead design workshops and design reviews, and help transition the platform from a single edge computer to multiple cooperating computers.
• Mentor senior engineers and raise architecture standards across the organisation.

Required profile

• Significant experience as a senior, staff or principal engineer with a hands‑on approach.
• Proven track record building native or embedded software that runs on field‑deployed hardware.
• Ability to explain trade‑offs clearly and influence cross‑functional teams.

Required skills

• Strong C++ or Rust programming skills with solid engineering fundamentals.
• Working understanding of the autonomy stack: ML models in production, state estimation, computer vision, control and embedded systems.
• Experience designing distributed edge computing or multi‑sensor systems.
