GIS Analyst

About the role

SMEC is seeking a GIS Analyst to join its Sydney team, supporting major infrastructure projects across New South Wales and ANZ. The role involves producing maps, managing spatial data, and developing GIS‑based tools that inform engineering and environmental decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Produce high‑quality cartographic outputs and graphics for project documentation.
• Manage and maintain spatial databases, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.
• Perform advanced spatial analysis to support design and planning activities.
• Develop and maintain web GIS solutions, including web maps, dashboards and Experience Builder applications.
• Configure and support field data collection apps such as FieldMaps, Survey123, Quick Capture and Fulcrum.
• Promote GIS best practices and provide training to multidisciplinary teams.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of professional GIS experience, preferably in engineering, environmental or infrastructure consulting.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.

Required skills

• ArcGIS Pro (desktop GIS) – spatial analysis and data management.
• ArcGIS Enterprise / ArcGIS Online – web GIS development, dashboards, Experience Builder.
• Cartographic design and production of mapping products.
• Field data collection tools: FieldMaps, Survey123, Quick Capture, Fulcrum.
