Full-Time Cook - Restaurant

About the role

A full-time Cook position is available in Cairns City, Queensland. The cook ensures the restaurant consistently serves high-quality meals quickly and efficiently, working under the supervision of the Chef on a wide range of food items including a la carte dishes, buffets and banquets. The salary is stated as $70,000 to $80,000 per year.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare food according to the Chef's specifications and recipes, and set up daily mise en place
• Keep ingredients fresh and properly prepared, and check meats, seafood and other items for quality and spoilage
• Display food attractively on counters and buffets, and check the kitchen before service
• Regulate oven and grill temperatures, season food and supervise meal service
• Receive food checks and event orders and prepare them as required
• Clean and maintain your workspace, store and equipment, and follow food safety and hygiene regulations
• Train other kitchen staff and apprentices, and cooperate and delegate fairly

Required profile

• At least a relevant AQF Certificate IV (or equivalent) and 12 months of full-time relevant work experience
• Team player who communicates clearly and understands quality control and food preparation standards
