Full-Time Chef

About the role

Phillip Island Winery, located in Ventnor, Victoria, is looking for an experienced chef to join its kitchen team. The restaurant serves locals and visitors with casual lunches, events and special celebrations, combining quality wine, seasonal food and relaxed hospitality in a rural setting. This is a hands-on, full-time position for a qualified chef working in a busy commercial kitchen, with a focus on Victorian produce and seasonal flavours.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and cook dishes according to the menus, presentation requirements and quality standards.
• Help develop and refine menu items showcasing Victorian produce and seasonal flavours.
• Support the Head Chef with ordering, rostering, staff management, stock control and kitchen cleanliness.
• Coordinate kitchen operations during service and keep dishes delivered on time.
• Work with the front-of-house team to keep food quality and presentation up to guest expectations.
• Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety.
• Assist in training junior kitchen staff and apprentices.
• Support cleaning rosters, Food Safety Plans and other kitchen compliance requirements.

Required profile

• A relevant culinary qualification, such as Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, Certificate IV in Kitchen Management or a Diploma of Hospitality Management.
• One to three years of experience as a chef in a commercial kitchen.
• Knowledge of food safety standards, workplace health and safety and kitchen compliance.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills, organisation and a collaborative approach.
