Food Safety & Quality Assurance Officer (FSQA)

About the role

JBS Australia is seeking an experienced Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) Officer to join its Townsville plant. Reporting to the QA Manager, you will play a critical role in safeguarding product quality, hygiene, and food safety across the facility.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor, report, and resolve product, hygiene, and food safety issues throughout the plant.
• Ensure food safety and quality of all products.
• Collaborate with management, production, and supervisory staff to achieve quality targets.
• Check products against specifications and food safety standards.
• Liaise with AQIS and other regulatory bodies to meet statutory guidelines.
• Participate in internal and external audits.
• Monitor daily hygiene practices in amenities, production areas, and the render department.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a similar FSQA or QA role within the meat industry (advantageous).
• Completion of AUS‑Meat competency levels and any statutory qualifications.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and basic supervisory skills.
• Problem‑solving ability, knowledge of workplace health and safety.
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and maintain high attention to detail.
• Comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment, both autonomously and as part of a team.
