Aircraft Mechanic III – AH‑64 Specialty (Townsville, Australia)

About the role

The Aircraft Mechanic III (AH‑64 Specialty) is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and modifying complex aircraft structures, components, and engines. This position supports flight‑ready aircraft in a high‑tempo OCONUS environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform inspections, repairs, and modifications on airframe, power‑plant, hydraulic, pneumatic, fuel and mechanical systems.
• Interpret technical data such as blueprints, manufacturers’ manuals, and technical orders to diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions.
• Supervise and provide guidance to lower‑level technicians during maintenance, inspections and test flights.
• Maintain accurate aircraft logs, weight‑and‑balance records, and ensure compliance with configuration control and Army oil‑analysis programs.
• Operate and maintain specialized test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet‑metal brakes and shears.

Required profile

• U.S. citizen with a valid passport (minimum 6 blank pages, 2+ years validity) and ability to obtain a Secret clearance.
• Current A&P license and at least five years of aviation maintenance experience, including five years on rotary‑wing aircraft, within the past ten years.
• High school diploma or equivalent; U.S. military technical school or AH‑64 specific training preferred.
• Ability to lift/push/pull up to 25 lb (occasionally 50 lb) and work in noisy, drafty hangar environments.

Required skills

• Aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting and repair (sheet‑metal, structural, hydraulic, electrical, power‑train).
• Use of specialized tools: torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet‑metal brakes, shears.
• Interpretation of technical manuals, blueprints, maintenance orders, and logbook documentation.
• Knowledge of FAA regulations for certified aircraft and Army aviation logistics systems (ULLSAE).
