Financial Services Technology Consultant

About the role

First Focus, Australia's leading managed AI and IT services provider, is hiring a Financial Services Technology Consultant in Brisbane on a full-time basis. This is an individual contributor role focused on helping small and mid-sized financial services firms (typically 20 to 250 users) adopt AI, strengthen cybersecurity, modernise cloud and managed IT services. The role is hybrid and pays AUD 200,000 to 300,000.

Key responsibilities

• Work with business owners, directors and financial services leaders to review technology strategy, cybersecurity, AI roadmaps and existing IT partners.
• Help firms move from AI curiosity to practical, secure and commercially sensible adoption, covering Microsoft Copilot, secure AI assistants, automation, financial reporting, client engagement, document processing and compliance workflows.
• Lead the commercial conversation from qualification through proposal and close, owning the client relationship and sales process.
• Work closely with technical specialists, solution architects and delivery teams, but lead technical and commercial conversations independently, bringing in specialists only for complex requirements.
• Write clear, commercially credible proposals and ensure smooth handovers into implementation.

Required profile

• At least five years of experience in consultative B2B sales, solution consulting or technology consulting, with sustained exposure to financial services.
• Demonstrated experience with accounting firms, financial advice practices, wealth management, insurance brokers or lending organisations.
• Ability to engage with Managing Directors, CEOs, CFOs, Practice Managers, Compliance Managers and IT decision-makers.
• Natural curiosity about AI and use of AI in daily work.

Required skills

• Experience with managed services, cybersecurity, cloud, AI, document management or industry-specific platforms.
• Strong discovery skills and disciplined opportunity qualification.
• Excellent written communication and proposal development skills.
• Technical aptitude to discuss AI, cybersecurity, cloud and managed services independently.
• Experience with financial services platforms such as Xero, MYOB, BGL, Class, Xplan, AdviserLogic, Salesforce Financial Services Cloud is highly regarded but not essential.
