Financial Controller – Pacific Region

About the role

Marsh is seeking a senior finance professional to lead the Financial Controllership function for the Mercer Pacific organization. Based in Melbourne, this hybrid role requires at least three days per week in the office and reports to the Marsh Pacific Controller.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure accurate and timely financial results for local legal entities under US GAAP and local GAAP.
• Oversee preparation and review of monthly, quarterly and annual P&L and Balance Sheet reporting.
• Lead balance‑sheet reconciliation governance, including issue investigation and resolution.
• Provide day‑to‑day accounting advice and maintain strong stakeholder engagement across Finance, Business, Audit, Tax, Treasury, Legal and Compliance.
• Support strategic initiatives such as M&A due diligence, integrations and special projects.
• Review Board papers and senior‑management reporting, ensuring appropriate accounting judgments.
• Execute internal controls, including SOX‑aligned requirements, and drive remediation of deficiencies.
• Lead, coach and develop the controllership team, fostering accountability and continuous learning.

Required profile

• Minimum 12 years of progressive financial controller experience, including leadership roles.
• Undergraduate degree and professional accounting qualification (CA or CPA); MBA desirable.
• Experience in an international, geographically distributed corporation.
• Strong interpersonal, stakeholder‑management and influencing skills in a matrix environment.
• Proven experience supporting M&A, integration activity or complex legal‑entity structures.
