Financial Controller – Brisbane SME

About the role

This is a hands‑on finance leadership position within a fast‑growing, capital‑intensive SME operating in construction‑related and industrial markets. Based on Brisbane’s inner‑east side, you will work closely with the Managing Director, senior leadership team and board to own the numbers and drive commercial decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead monthly and quarterly reporting, dashboards and forecasting cycles.
• Provide clear variance analysis, financial insight and practical recommendations.
• Improve cash‑flow forecasting, working‑capital discipline and overall liquidity visibility.
• Support board reporting and senior leadership decision‑making.
• Analyse performance, margins, pricing and commercial risk.
• Strengthen financial controls, data integrity and finance processes.

Required profile

• Hands‑on Finance Manager, Financial Controller or senior finance professional with SME experience.
• Background in operational businesses where projects, assets, cash flow and margins are critical.
• Experience in construction, civil, manufacturing, trades, transport or similar sectors is highly regarded.
• Strong commercial judgement and ability to influence senior stakeholders.
