Assistant Accountant

About the role

We are seeking an experienced hands‑on Assistant Accountant to join our finance team in Brisbane. The role supports day‑to‑day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial processing, timely reporting, and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Process supplier invoices, perform invoice matching and coding, and prepare supplier payments.
• Conduct daily and monthly bank reconciliations and resolve reconciling items.
• Prepare and post routine journal entries and assist with month‑end close and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Maintain the fixed‑asset register, process additions, disposals, depreciation and support asset verification.
• Coordinate insurance renewals and claims, maintaining related documentation.
• Manage leased‑vehicle records, lease payments, fuel cards and reporting requirements.
• Provide general finance support including audit assistance, financial reporting and ad‑hoc tasks.
• Support operational activities such as sales invoicing and stock‑take.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 2 + years experience in an Assistant Accountant role.
• Strong attention to detail, organisational ability and capacity to meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems, with good communication and teamwork skills.
